Flying High

So, Pat and Nancy's (aka Gwama and Gwampa) visit was slightly dampened by that little government shutdown thingee.
You see, Pat is a federal worker and Nancy is employed as a a course instructor to federal workers.  So, the government shutdown meant they were out of work!

They were a little "hacked off" as Nancy says...  it's a nicer way of saying how you really feel.

At any rate, they needed some cheering up

The hippest gwampa around.  I wish you could see his t-shirt.  It says, "I may be old, but I got to see all the cool bands."  He doesn't look very old, does he?

So Em played hookie and we went to Tripsdrill, our new little favorite place to go... a nearby super cute and clean amusement park.

First thing's first: we have to get our bearings.  I think I mentioned Em and C are obsessed with maps lately.  They walked all over the park plotting our course

Since we went on a Monday when it was MAYBE 50 degrees, we pretty much had the park to ourselves.  That's the way to do it.  It may have something to do with the fact that skipping school in Germany is highly frowned upon.  As in under German law you are fined somewhere around 75 Euro a day for every day you miss!!  Sheesh. Em doesn't have to worry about this since she goes to a DoD School.

I've mentioned their lax safety regulations, right?  Doesn't it look like C could just slip right under that bar?

The place was decorated so cute for fall... so it looks like I went a little snap happy with the wagons and whatnot

Gwampa was such a good sport... he went on ride after ride that involved spinning and twisting and flying and every other nauseating motion... does he look a little sick in this one?  He was pretty tough, but I think by the end of the day he was done.
